On Top of the World
It was a tough slog of a week. 2 kids on vacation and 1 kid pissed he wasn't on vacation. Mama got her covid vaccine and was sick for 2 days. Extra work for Daddy.
For some reason, I felt compelled to get everyone out of the house and go someplace we'd never been before. We drove to Pacific Beach to this park that had a crazy view of the city, Coronado, Point Loma, and Mission Bay. Beautiful! But not idylic.
Touted as a trail and a park, it was all dust and rubble (Dylan took off running and immediately splayed face first in the dirt) and (thank goodness he avoided the) cactus with off-leash dogs (poop) everywhere. The other, nicer part was a zoo of birthday revelers and so many people picnicking that I assumed a concert was being performed.
I am now unaccustomed to large crowds. We booked it out of there and headed back towards La Jolla when we stumbled upon the crazy huge cross I've been seeing on Mount Solodad. We made a tiny stop so I could stand on a bench and see up the coast to Del Mar. I could make out the cove where we usually splash around for treasure.
It was 51% worth it.
Of course, it's easy to say that now, looking at the nice photos and did I mention that Cubby has his matress in my room because Dylan bit his toe after dinner?
It's been a full day.
I have a hankering to see the seal pups in La Jolla Cove, but we're gonna play hooky and go some weekday morning. Weekend day tripping is too bonkers during covid!
