Estuary, you are changeable and so lovely
I went to the beach three times last week (I know, I'm spoiled) and the estuary was completely different each time!
I tend to schedule our beach excisions at low tide so we have the biggest area to spread out and the currents are weaker. Plus, treasure hunting. If you want to find beach glass, sand dollars and interesting stuff, you need to time it right. Winter storms have been tossing around the rocks and have churned up so many cool treasures.
The last time we went, the channel had cut so tight and narrow against the bridge pylon I wouldn't let the boys go in the water there. It was deep and racing! Instead, we moved under the bridge and there was a small lagoon effect. I saw this crazy white shell and grabbed it up. It was the biggest sea snail I'd ever seen! Just days before, I found an enormous hermit crab in a similar shaped shell. I'm in the zone for creature catching.
Liam is usually the first to want to leave the beach but he was laughing and having a great time exploring this creature. I wish we could have stayed, but it was Jacob's turn to be nervous about something.
Still, a very great week of admiring the always changing power of tidal estuaries.
And I did get some great pictures of the kids.
