La Jolla and the Instagram famous sea lion, "Chonkers"…
During the summer, La Jolla Cove became a little more famous due to a viral video of a massive unit of a sea lion lunging out of the water to attack another sea lion. Tourists were screaming and running amok! Just Google,"La Jolla Cove sea lion".
We went to the cove two weeks ago to watch the animals and we saw "Chonkers"! I can't remember if it's only me who calls him that, but he's massive and lives up to his infamy!
He was barking and swimming around, reminding everyone that the cove belongs to him. As if sharks weren't deterrent enough to keep me from swimming in the Pacific, I now add sea lions to the list. Up to my waist is plenty deep for me and usually I think knee-deep is good. I have to watch out for the Danger Pancakes after all ( sting rays).
A few days ago a swimmer (heading out of the cove towards the Scripps Pier 2 miles across open ocean, maniac) was bitten by a sea lion. Was it Chonkers?? I wouldn'tbe surprised. Watch out, humans!
