February has been raining, beautiful, wild, and busy!
It has been a busy month of crazy weather with lots and lots of rain plus the last King Tide. San Diego isn't set up to handle all of rhis rain and the schools have mostly outdoor spaces for lunch and no interior hallways. This means that rain is very dysregulating for the boys. We've had a lot of moodiness but mostly everyone is being a trooper.
We went to La Jolla several times to watch for seal babies and we finally saw some! I love watching those chubby mamas and their babies bounce over the sand.
We had a few beautiful days of sunshine mixed in with all of the pouring rain. We visited a park in Escondido to see some waterfalls. There I found a crazy tree that an Acorn Woodpecker had decorated with his stash of acorns. I never knew sich a thing existed and it broke my brain trying to figure out what i was even looking at! I am learning new things about San Diego all the time.
Jacob was invited to a birthday party at an arcade and he drove a race car while Dylan and I played golf.
We took a hike in Palm Canyon at Balboa to inspect the giant fig trees (and palms which aren't so exciting since we are spoiled by seeing them everywhere.) The Littles enjoyed the science museum and they were in heaven playing in the ball pit with an avalanche simulator.
Valentine's Day was a big celebration at the elementary school and I also taught an art lesson to Dylan's class. His painting of a dog inspired by Andy Warhol is super cute.
Another storm is approaching but we squeezed in a trip to San Marcos to a new playground. Of course we also had to try some donuts from a new place nearby.
February 28th will mark 6 years since we moved to San Diego. We hope to celebrate with a special dinner at Jake's in Del Mar and a hooky day at the Children's Museum.
