Torrey Pines is burried in cobblestone!
The Estuary is ever changing. That's why it's my favorite place!
The King Tides bashed across the seabed and tossed millions of cobblestones onto the beach. They are like rock sculptures of waves, frozen in their undulation.
The stones will protect the cliffs from erosion but they will also stop sand replenishment. So, will they save the bluffs and shorten the beach? A conservator said that they won't remove the stones but commented that this volume of cobble was unprecedented.
It's amazing, but I do hope they clear the estuary which is choked to a white water river with actual rapids.
We had a great visit!
