Cubby's first piece of gum!

Today, Cubby looked so longingly at Liam's pack of gum that I caved and told him that he could have a piece.
"Don't swallow it!" I recalled the cough drop of late that had slid immediately down into his throat and then the request for another.
Cubby took this privilege very seriously.
He sat at the table and slowly put the cube into his mouth. Then, he covered his eyes with his hands and bowed his head low while he chewed.
He looked up after a minute, amazed!
"Just keep chewing and spit it out when.... Did you just swallow it?'
No more gum for Cubby for a while.
