That nugget of glee in all the hard work. Worth it.
I took the double monkeys to the lake today.... by myself! Those parenting average children might not appreciate the effort involved in herding, packing, schlepping, and negotiating with two high energy boys. It's a frickin Olympic event.
Anyway, there we were. A gorgeous lake, happy family time, and I'm not sweating because I've gotten both boys to sync and we're all lolling about in the water. Bub even played nicely with two other boys after I made the introductions. (very amusing, I am his social attaché, after all)
45 minutes.
That's how long the nice part lasted.
Pack it up! I said take your shirt off first! No, don't eat that sand! *sweating, pushing a stroller and lugging our crap uphill * I changed in the parking lot. I don't care! I have zero shame!
Fortunately, I had Dairy Queen in my sights as a carrot, or Blizzard, since we're being honest. Was it worth it? Yes! It's the memory of those 45 minutes that will blind me to the agony as I plan our next outing. And I'm cool with that.
Also, Cubby is 16 months old and we had a donut to celebrate!
