"I want to get them" and other things you don't want to hear at the Butterfly Garden
A 3 year old boy is not the target audience of an establishment with a strict "don't touch" policy. And yet, there we were, ready to enjoy the delicate spectacle of flitting butterflies.
Bub: I WANT to touch the butterflies! I'm going to GET them!
Mama: I know, I want to touch them, too, but those are the rules so we can't touch them.
Bub: I'm going to touch them ANYWAY!
Around and around we went.
He was actually really well behaved and didn't touch even one butterfly. He almost smashed a few with the camera lense doing some extreme close-ups, but I don't think that counts.
His reward was lunch at McDonald's because all of my hyper vigilance in preserving butterflies lives equals a free pass on feeding my kid some garbage food. And because french fries dipped in sweet and sour sauce are just yummy.
